An in-depth exploration of how movement and music work together in some of the most beloved ballet in the repertoire. Discover insights about these ballets from top conductors and dancers from leading ballet companies around the world; join our sessions as we dive into what makes these ballets great and powerfully moving works. From how Balanchine’s Serenade is a mini-history of New York City Ballet, to how Prokofiev’s themes for Juliet grow as her character develops in Romeo and Juliet, hear how choreographers take advantage of the music of these ballets and how dancers make the movements and music their own. Deeper than pre-concert lectures and program book notes, you’ll hear directly from the artists that live these ballets day in and day out in the studios and on the stage.
Join us on Saturdays at Noon PDT for these informative and fun 90-minute sessions which include conductors and dancers from the following companies: San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Houston Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Semperoper Ballett, Royal Ballet, Het Nationale Ballet and National Ballet of Canada. All sessions are free, with a suggested donation to participating companies. To support these companies, artists, and Musical Point(e)s, click here.
